Clinical Pharmacology
Alpizarin - antiviral preparation obtained from Alpine herbs Hedysarum (Hedysarum alpinum L.), Hedysarum yellowing (Hedysarum flavescens Rgl et Schmalh..) Of the legume family or technical mangiferina obtained from leaves mango (Mangifera indica L.), family sumach. The drug has antiviral activity against DNA-containing viruses (Herpes simplex type I and II, Varicella zoster, HIV, CMV), which is due to the suppression of the reproduction of viruses in the early stages of their development. The drug has the ability to induce the production of gamma-interferon in blood cells.
Alpizarin has a moderate bacteriostatic effect on gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, protozoa and Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
Indications
- treatment of infections of the skin and mucous membranes caused by Herpes simplex type I and II viruses, both primary and recurrent;
- prevention of infections caused by Herpes simplex type I and II;
- infections caused by Varicella zoster viruses (chickenpox, herpes zoster);
- Herpetiform eczema Kaposi;
- dermatoses of presumably viral genesis (lichen planus);
- warts, genital warts.

Dosage and Administration
The therapeutic effect of Alpizarin is most pronounced when it is prescribed in the initial period of the disease or relapse.
Pills are taken orally, regardless of the meal.Adults and children over 12 years old designate 1-2 tab. 3-4 times / day;children 6-12 years old 1 tab. 2-3 times / day;children 1-6 years on 1 / 2-1 tab. 2-3 times / day.
The course of treatment varies from 3-5 days to 3-4 weeks, depending on the form and severity of the disease.
Adverse reactions
Usually the drug is well tolerated.
When taking alpizarina inside possible:
- nausea;
- vomiting;
- diarrhea;
- headache;
- increased fatigue;
- allergic skin reactions.
Contraindications

Special instructions

1 tablet of the drug contains 0.1 g of dairy sugar (lactose) and 0.0475 g of potato starch, which corresponds to 0.01 XE (bread units). The maximum daily dose of the drug for children from 3 to 12 years old contains 0.03 XE; for children over 12 years old and adults - 0.08 XE.
Influence on ability to drive motor transport and control mechanisms:
The drug does not affect the performance of potentially hazardous activities or requiring increased concentration and speed of psychomotor reactions (driving control and working with moving mechanisms).
Overdosage
To date, cases of overdose are not registered. The occurrence of overdose is unlikely.
