Clinical Pharmacology

Biotredin® is a regulator of tissue metabolism, improves mental performance, has a therapeutic effect in the case of alcohol withdrawal, reduces craving for alcohol.

L-threonine in the presence of pyridoxine (vitamin B6) breaks down into the amino acid glycine and acetaldehyde, which stimulate the processes of inhibition and at the same time redox reactions, respiration and synthesis of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) in the cells, due to which the drug is capable of:

reduce psycho-emotional stress;
improve short-term and long-term memory;
improve mental performance;
increase and normalize the level of endogenous acetaldehyde and, thereby, reduce the phenomenon of alcohol withdrawal syndrome and craving for alcohol.

The action of Biotredin® appears 10-20 minutes after administration under the tongue.

Indications

Assign children, adolescents and adults with a decrease in mental performance and concentration.

The drug is prescribed to alcohol abusers, patients with chronic alcoholism when updating the pathological craving for alcohol, combined with affective (irritability, low mood, internal discomfort), sensory (hunger) and ideatorial (thoughts about alcohol) disorders, with alcohol withdrawal syndrome, and also to maintain remission.

Composition

1 tablet contains L-threonine 100 g, pyridoxine hydrochloride 5 mg;
Excipients: Povidone (low molecular weight polyvinylpyrrolidone), citric acid, magnesium stearate.

Dosage and administration

The drug is prescribed in tablets under the tongue or in powder form after grinding tablets; as a means of enhancing attention, mental performance: children, adolescents and adults, 1 tablet 2-3 times a day for 3-10 days. If necessary, repeat the course 3-4 times or more per year.

Patients with chronic alcoholism and alcohol abusers are prescribed 1-3 tablets to take 2-3 times a day for 4-5 days. If necessary, courses are repeated 5-10 times a year.

In the treatment of alcohol withdrawal syndrome, 1-4 tablets are prescribed on the first day 3-4 times a day (daily dose of 3-16 tablets), on the second day and then 1-2 tablets per reception 2-3 times a day (daily dose 3 - 6 tablets) for 21-28 days.

The duration of the course can be shortened to 10-14 days.

The greatest effect of Biotredin® is achieved when it is combined with the drug Glycine (100 mg tablet). Glycine is taken under the tongue 10-15 minutes before taking Biotredin®.

In the period of remission, 2-3 tablets of Biotredin® on an empty stomach are taken to identify the latent craving for alcohol. The appearance within 10-20 minutes of light vertigo, soothing effect, facial flushing, sweating indicates the presence of "hidden traction". In these cases, a 5–10 day course of Biotredin® 1-2 tablets 2-3 times daily with Glycine 100 mg under the tongue 10-15 minutes before taking Biotredin® is recommended.

Adverse reactions

Dizziness, increased sweating, allergic reactions in case of intolerance to vitamin B6.

Contraindications

Alcohol intoxication, concomitant medication, which depress the central nervous system (anxiolytics, antipsychotics (neuroleptics), antidepressants, etc.), increased sensitivity to vitamin B6.

Drug interactions

Incompatible with antipsychotic drugs, antidepressants, anxiolytics, barbiturates. Weakens the effect of antipsychotics (neuroleptics), antidepressants, barbiturates and other drugs that depress the central nervous system.
