Clinical Pharmacology

Cerebrolysate enhances protein synthesis in nerve cells, increases the resistance of brain tissue to intoxication, hypoxia, hypoglycemia, mechanical injury. The drug activates the integrative processes in the central nervous system, improves concentration, memory processes and information reproduction.

Pharmacokinetics

Pharmacokinetic analysis is difficult due to the complex composition of cerebrolysate, including the sum of free amino acids and peptides.

Indications

Cerebrolysate is used in adult patients with impaired cortical functions of the central nervous system, caused by impaired cerebral circulation, with dyscirculatory encephalopathy, and in patients with posttraumatic asthenic syndrome.

Composition

1 ml contains:
active substance: bovine brain hydrolyzate.
Contains 85% amino acids and 15% peptides.

Dosage and Administration

The drug is used as prescribed by the doctor.

Cerebrolysate is administered intramuscularly in 1–5 ml daily or every other day, the course of treatment is 20–30 injections.

After a 3-6 month break, the treatment with Cerebrolysate can be repeated.

Adverse reactions

Injections of the drug are painful, in some cases, irritation of the tissues at the injection site is possible. With hypertension II-III Art. during treatment with cerebrolysate, an increase in blood pressure may occur.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity.

With care when: acute renal failure, allergic diathesis, generalized convulsive seizures, pregnancy (I term).

Drug interactions

Co-administration with antidepressants can cause an increase in their action.

Pregnancy and Lactation

Special studies on the safety of Cerebrolizate during pregnancy and lactation have not been conducted. There are indications of the undesirability of the drug in the first trimester of pregnancy.

Special instructions

Special care should be exercised when used in patients with acute renal failure. Be wary of prescribing the drug for allergic diathesis, large convulsive seizures.
