Clinical Pharmacology

Antimicrobial.

Combined antibacterial drug.

Chloramphenicol - broad-spectrum antibiotic, inhibits the synthesis of proteins of sensitive microorganisms; active against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, Mycoplasma spp., Ricketsia spp., Chlamydia spp .; not active against Pseudomonas aeruginosa, mushrooms.

Tetracycline - broad-spectrum antibiotic, inhibits bacterial protein synthesis at the level of PKK, has a bacteriostatic effect. Active against gram-negative bacteria, Chlamydia spp., Mycoplasma spp., Ricketsia spp., Entamoeba histolytica. The resistance of microorganisms develops slowly.

Colistin - An antibiotic that is isolated from Bacillus polymyxa (var. Colistinus). It has a bactericidal effect on most gram-negative bacteria (incl. Pseudomonas spp., Haemophilus spp.), active against fungi. There is no cross-resistance with broad-spectrum antibiotics with which colistin shows synergism.

Indications

  • conjunctivitis (catarrhal, purulent, trachoma);
  • blepharitis;
  • blepharoconjunctivitis;
  • bacterial keratitis;
  • septic corneal ulcer;
  • dacryocystitis.

tetracycline 0.005 g
chloramphenicol 0.01 g
colistymetat sodium 180,000 IU
Excipients: vaseline oil; lanolin; petroleum jelly

Dosage and Administration

Eye ointment should be placed in the lower conjunctival sac 3-4 times / day. If the use of the ointment is combined with the use of eye drops, then the ointment can be applied only 1 time / day (before bedtime).Special instructionsIn the absence of significant clinical improvement within a relatively short period of time or in the event of allergic reactions, Colbiocin should be discontinued and appropriate antiallergic therapy should be carried out. Because rare cases of bone marrow hypoplasia have been reported due to long-term topical use of chloramphenicol, colbiocin should be used for short periods of time and under the supervision of an ophthalmologist.

Contraindications

individual hypersensitivity to drug components; dysfunction of the liver, kidneys; pregnancy; lactation period; children's age (up to 8 years old).
