Clinical Pharmacology

Polysorb MP - inorganic non-selective polyfunctional enterosorbent based on highly dispersed silica with particle sizes up to 0.09 mm and with the chemical formula SiO₂. Polysorb MP has sorption, detoxification, antioxidant and membrane stabilizing properties.

The drug adsorbs from the intestinal contents and removes exogenous and endogenous toxins from various sources, including pathogenic bacteria and bacterial toxins, antigens, food allergens, drugs and poisons, heavy metal salts, radionuclides, and alcohol.

Polysorb MP also adsorbs some metabolic products of the body (including bilirubin, urea, cholesterol and lipid complexes).

Pharmacokinetics
After taking the drug Polysorb MP inside the active substance is not absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. Quickly excreted unchanged.

Indications

acute and chronic intoxication in children and adults of various etiologies;

Dosage and Administration

For adults Polysorb MP is prescribed in an average daily dose of 100-200 mg / kg body weight (6-12 g). The multiplicity of reception - 3-4 times / day. The maximum daily dose in adults is 330 mg / kg body weight (20 g).

1 teaspoon Polysorb MP ”with top” contains 1 g of the drug, 1 tbsp. spoon ”with top” - 3 g.

The drug is taken orally only in the form of an aqueous suspension. To obtain a suspension, the required amount of the drug Polysorb MP is thoroughly stirred in 1 / 4-1 / 2 cup of water.

The drug is taken 1 hour before meals or taking other medicines. Before each administration, it is recommended to prepare a fresh suspension.

When food allergies the drug should be taken immediately before or during the meal.

The duration of treatment depends on the diagnosis and the severity of the disease. The course of treatment for acute intoxication is 3-5 days; with allergic diseases and chronic intoxication - up to 10-14 days. After 2-3 weeks it is possible to repeat the course of treatment.

Features of the use of Polysorb MP in various diseases and conditions

With food poisoning and acute poisoning therapy is recommended to start with gastric lavage with a 0.5-1% suspension of Polysorb MP. In severe poisoning on the first day, gastric lavage is carried out through a tube every 4-6 hours, along with this, the drug is given orally. The average single dose in adults is 100-150 mg / kg of body weight of the patient 2-3 times / day.
With acute intestinal infections Polysorb MP treatment is recommended to begin in the first hours or days of the disease as part of complex therapy. On the first day, the daily dose of the drug is taken for 5 hours with an interval between doses of 1 hour. On the second day, the frequency of taking the drug is 4 times / day. Duration of treatment is 3-5 days.
In the treatment of viral hepatitis Polysorb MP is used as a detoxification agent in an average daily dose during the first 7-10 days of illness.
In acute allergic reactions (medicinal or food) recommend gastric lavage with a 0.5-1% suspension of Polysorb MP. Further, the drug is prescribed in usual doses before the onset of clinical effect.
With chronic food allergies recommend courses of therapy with Polisorb MP for a period of 7-15 days. The drug is taken immediately before meals. Similar courses are prescribed for urticaria, angioedema, eosinophilia, pollinosis and other atopic diseases.
In chronic renal failure (hyperasotemia) Polysorb MP treatment courses are used at a dose of 150-200 mg / kg / day for 25-30 days with a break of 2-3 weeks.
When monitor bowel cleansing use 0.1% suspension of Polysorb MP. The course requires 25-50 g of the drug, subject to 1-2 procedures with Polysorb MP.

Adverse reactions

Seldom: allergic reactions, constipation.

Contraindications

peptic ulcer and duodenal ulcer in the acute phase;
gastrointestinal bleeding;
intestinal atony;
hypersensitivity to the drug.

Drug interactions

With simultaneous use of the drug Polysorb MP with other drugs may reduce the therapeutic effect of the latter.

Pregnancy and Lactation

Purpose of the drug Polysorb MP during pregnancy does not adversely affect the fetus.

When applying Polysorb MP during lactation, no adverse effects on the child have been established.

Special instructions

With long-term administration of the drug Polysorb MP (more than 14 days), the absorption of vitamins and calcium may be impaired, and therefore prophylactic administration of multivitamin preparations and preparations containing calcium is recommended.

Externally, Polysorb MP powder can be used to stop bleeding from small wounds, as well as in the complex treatment of purulent wounds, trophic ulcers and burns.
