Clinical Pharmacology
Ferrovir is a biologically active substance - an extract of sturgeon or salmon milt (purified and standardized complex sodium deoxyribonucleotide salt with iron). The drug has antiviral and immunomodulatory effects, activates antiviral, antifungal and antimicrobial immunities.
It exhibits antiviral effects against various RNA and DNA-containing viruses. Ferrovir has an antiviral, immunomodulating effect.
Indications
- herpes virus infection of various localization caused by HSV-1, HSV-2, including generalized in immunocompetent individuals,
- human papillomavirus infection, treatment of pathological conditions (condyloma, warts, dysplasia) caused by human papillomavirus;
- cytomegalovirus infection,
- Hepatitis C,
- tick-borne encephalitis,
- in the combination therapy of HIV-infected patients and AIDS patients, including in combination with chronic hepatitis C, recurrent herpetic infection, as well as other opportunistic viral infections.
Composition
1 ml of solution contains sodium deoxyribonucleotide 15 mg and ferric oxide chloride 0.048 mg;
excipient:water for injections.

Dosage and Administration
Ferrovir is administered intramuscularly.
For herpes infection - 5 ml (15 mg / ml) of the solution 2 times a day for 10 days.
In chronic recurrent genital herpes, cytomegalovirus infection - 5 ml (15 mg / ml) 2 times a day, for 10-15 days.
When treating HIV infection or AIDS, for adults - 5 ml (15 mg / ml) of the solution for intramuscular administration (75 mg in terms of dry substance) 2 times a day (150 mg) for 14 days. If necessary, after 1-1.5 months, a second course of therapy is prescribed.
In the treatment of hepatitis C Ferrovir is injected intramuscularly 2 times a day in 5 ml (15 mg / ml) for 14 days. In the next 14 days, the drug is administered in the same daily dose every other day.
With tick-borne encephalitis - 5 ml (15 mg / ml) 2 times a day for 5 to 10 days.
With human papillomavirus infection - 5 ml (15 mg / ml) 1 time per day, with an interval of 72 hours, for 10 days.
With recurrent genital warts either as monotherapy, or in combination with surgical treatment, the drug is prescribed in 5 ml (15 mg / ml) solution for intramuscular administration 2 times a day for 10 days.
With cervical dysplasia associated with human papillomavirus, the drug is prescribed in 5 ml (15 mg / ml) of the solution 1 time per day, for 10 days.
When using intramuscular solution of 2 ml to recalculate to achieve a course dose of 750 - 2100 mg.
Adverse reactions
May cause a short-term increase in body temperature (up to 38 ° C), hyperemia and soreness at the injection site.
Contraindications
Individual intolerance to the components of the drug; pregnancy and lactation, children's age.
Drug interactions
Moderately potentiates the action of anticoagulants.
In the combined therapy reduces the toxicity and negative effects of the drugs used (headache, nausea, etc.)
Special instructions
To reduce pain, Ferrovir is administered intramuscularly slowly over 1-2 minutes.
Solution for injection should be fully used immediately after opening the bottle, storage of open bottles is not allowed.
Intravenous administration of the drug is not allowed!
