Clinical Pharmacology
Biofer is a combined drug that stimulates erythropoiesis with iron deficiency anemia.
Trivalent iron is in the form of a complex hydroxide polymaltose complex.Iron participates in the synthesis of hemoglobin, myoglobin, cytochrome oxidase, catalase and peroxidase,
Folic acid - vitamin B, stimulates erythropoiesis, is involved in the synthesis of amino acids, nucleic acids, purines, pyrimidines, in the metabolism of choline.
Indications
Iron deficiency anemia (including during pregnancy, during lactation).
Composition
1 tablet contains iron [III] hydroxide polymaltozate 318.2 mg, which corresponds to a content of 100 mg of elemental iron, and folic acid 350 μg

Dosage and Administration
Inside, 1 tablet 2-3 times a day, during or immediately after a meal, until normalization of hemoglobin, then continue to take 1 tablet per day until the end of pregnancy (or lactation).
Foranemia prevention take 1 tablet per day.
The course of treatment is at least 2 months,maintenance therapy - up to 2-3 months.
Adverse reactions
Dyspepsia (feeling of overflow and pressure in the epigastric region, nausea, vomiting, constipation or diarrhea), dark color of feces (due to the elimination of non-sucked iron and has no clinical significance), allergic reactions.

Pregnancy and Lactation
In controlled studies in the II and III trimesters of pregnancy, there was no undesirable effect of the drug on the mother and fetus. During lactation, the drug should be taken as indicated.
Special instructions
The drug should be used with caution in gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer, as well as in inflammatory diseases of the gastrointestinal tract.
1 tablet Biofer contains 0.06 XE, which must be considered when prescribing patients with diabetes.
Overdosage
To date, in cases of drug overdose, no toxicity or signs of iron overload have been reported.
