Clinical Pharmacology
Ketanov - nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agent (NSAID).
It has anti-inflammatory and pronounced analgesic effect.
The mechanism of action is due to inhibition of the enzyme cyclooxygenase and inhibition of the synthesis of prostaglandins.
Ketanov has no sedative effect, does not affect opioid receptors.
Ketanov does not cause depression of the respiratory center and does not affect psychomotor functions.
Indications
Short-term relief of pain of various origins, including:
- postoperative pain (including after abdominal, gynecological, orthopedic operations);
- pain in sprains, fractures and injuries of soft tissues;
- toothache (including after dental surgery);
- postpartum pain;
- pain syndrome in cancer;
- pain syndrome in osteoarthritis;
- sciatica.
Ketanov not indicated for use in chronic pain syndrome.
Composition
1 tablet contains Ketorolaka tromethamine 10 mg.

Dosage and Administration
For adults inside appoint 10 mg every 4-6 hours.
With severe pain, the dose can be increased to 20 mg 3-4 times a day.
The maximum daily dose of the drug (for any dosage form) is 90 mg.
Adverse reactions
From the digestive system: stomatitis, nausea, constipation, dyspepsia, gastritis, erosive and ulcerative lesions of the gastrointestinal tract, dry mouth.
From the side of the central nervous system and peripheral nervous system: drowsiness, dizziness, nervousness, paresthesias.
From the urinary system: frequent urination, acute renal failure, nephrotic syndrome, interstitial nephritis.
Metabolism: increased levels of creatinine and / or urea in the blood plasma.
From the water and electrolyte balance: hypokalemia, hyponatremia.
Since the cardiovascular system: bradycardia, changes in blood pressure.
From the blood coagulation system: thrombocytopenia, purpura, hematoma formation, epistaxis, lengthening of clotting time.
On the part of the respiratory system: dyspnea.
Allergic reactions: hives.
Other: thirst.
Contraindications
- peptic ulcer and duodenal ulcer in the acute phase;
- gastrointestinal bleeding;
- bronchial asthma;
- severe cerebrovascular disorders;
- moderate and severe renal dysfunction, the risk of developing renal failure with hypovolemia and dehydration;
- history of blood coagulation disorders;
- hemorrhagic diathesis;
- simultaneous reception with other NSAIDs;
- children and adolescents up to 16 years;
- Hypersensitivity to ketorolac and other NSAIDs.
Drug interactions
With the simultaneous use of Ketanov with other NSAIDs increases the risk of side effects.
In vitro ketorolac reduces the binding of warfarin to plasma proteins.
Pregnancy and Lactation
Contraindicated in pregnancy and lactation.
Special instructions
It should be used with caution in patients with impaired liver and / or kidney function.
It should be borne in mind that with prolonged use of the drug increases the risk of side effects from the digestive system.
Ketanov does not cause the formation of drug dependence.
Overdosage
Clinical data on acute overdose of the drug is not.
