Clinical Pharmacology
Lomexin is an antifungal local.
It has fungistatic and fungicidal action. It also has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effects.
Pharmacodynamics
The mechanism of action is to inhibit the biosynthesis of ergosterol, which is part of the cell membrane of the fungus, which leads to changes in its structure and properties. Active against yeast-like fungi (includingCandida albicans) and gram-positive bacteria.
Pharmacokinetics
Practically not subjected to systemic absorption, with prolonged external use, its concentration in the blood is not determined. The degree of absorption of mucous membranes is extremely small.
Indications
Vulvovaginal candidiasis; vaginal trichomoniasis.
Composition
1 g of cream contains:
Active substance: fenticonazole nitrate 2 g;
Excipients: propylene glycol - 5 g; hydrogenated lanolin - 1 g; almond oil - 10 g; cetyl alcohol - 3 g; glycerol monostearate - 3 g; sodium edetate - 0.5 g; polyglycolic ester of fatty acids - 15 g; purified water - 60 g

Dosage and Administration
A topical cream of about 5 g is injected deep into the vagina 1 time per day, in the evening or, if necessary, 2 times per day (morning and evening). The treatment is carried out until complete clinical recovery.
Adverse reactions
Allergic reactions: rarely - urticaria, rash, erythema.
Local reactions: burning, itching, local irritation.
Contraindications
I trimester of pregnancy; hypersensitivity to the drug.
Special instructions
With prolonged use of the drug may develop sensitization. In this case, it is necessary to discontinue treatment, and the patient should contact your doctor.
In the absence of effect within 3 weeks of therapy, treatment should be discontinued and the diagnosis clarified.
The drug should not be prescribed during menstruation. The course of treatment is advisable to start after menstruation.
In order to avoid reinfection, it is recommended to simultaneously treat the partner with cream, which is applied to the glans penis and the foreskin.
