Clinical Pharmacology
Combined drug that improves the energy metabolism of the lens.
Cytochrome C plays an important role in biochemical redox processes in the tissues of the eyeball and is an antioxidant.
Adenosine is the precursor of ATP, is involved in the metabolic processes of the lens.
Nicotinamide stimulates the synthesis of nicotinamide dinucleotide, a cofactor of dehydrogenases.
Indications
- It is used for cataracts of various origins;
- prevention of cataract development.
Composition
Active ingredients: adenosine 2 mg; cytochrome C 0.675 mg; nicotinamide 20 mg;
Excipients: benzalkonium chloride - 0.04 mg; sodium succinate hexahydrate; sorbitol; sodium phosphate disubstituted 2-water; sodium phosphate monosubstituted 2-water; water for injections

Dosage and Administration
Conjunctival. 1-2 drops in the conjunctival sac, 3 times a day.
Adverse reactions
On the part of the organ of vision: short-term burning sensation and tingling of the eyes, allergic conjunctivitis, contact dermatitis.
Systemic reactions: extremely rarely - transient nausea, hypotension, dizziness, shortness of breath; sensation of heat and pulsation in the temples, fainting (due to the vasodilating action of nicotinic acid).
Contraindications
Individual hypersensitivity to the drug.
Pregnancy and Lactation
Adequate and strictly controlled clinical studies of the safety of the drug Oftan Catachrom during pregnancy and lactation (breastfeeding) were not conducted.
In experimental studies not identified teratogenic and mutagenic effect of the drug.
Special instructions
Eye drops as a preservative contain benzalkonium chloride, which can be deposited on soft contact lenses. Therefore, patients wearing contact lenses should remove them before applying the drops and install them back no earlier than 15 minutes after instillation.
Use in Pediatrics
The drug is not used in children.
Influence on ability to drive motor transport and control mechanisms
The drug Oftan Kathrom does not affect the ability to drive a car and control mechanisms
Overdosage
Due to the insignificant absorption into the blood and the rapid splitting of the active substances when using the drops, no serious reactions associated with excess doses were detected. In the event of such reactions, symptomatic therapy is indicated.
