Clinical Pharmacology
Phosphalugel - antacid, enveloping, adsorbing.
Pharmacodynamics
It has an acid-neutralizing, enveloping, adsorbing effect. Reduces the proteolytic activity of pepsin. Does not cause alkalization of gastric juice, while maintaining the acidity of gastric contents at a physiological level. Does not lead to secondary hypersecretion of hydrochloric acid.
Forms a protective layer on the mucous membrane of the gastrointestinal tract.
It helps to remove toxins, gases and microorganisms throughout the digestive tract, normalizes the passage of the contents through the intestines.
Indications
For adults:
- stomach ulcer and duodenal ulcer;
- gastritis with normal or increased secretion;
- diaphragmatic hernia;
- reflux esophagitis;
- non-ulcer dyspepsia syndrome;
- functional diarrhea;
- gastric and intestinal disorders caused by intoxication, medication, irritants (acid, alkali), alcohol.
For kids:
- esophagitis;
- gastroesophageal reflux;
- gastritis;
- peptic ulcer of a stomach and duodenum.
Composition
1 sachet contains:
Active substance: aluminum phosphate;
Excipients: sorbitol; agar-agar; pectin; calcium sulfate; potassium sorbate; orange flavoring; purified water.

Dosage and Administration
For oral use can be pure or diluted with half a glass of water before taking it. Adults and children over 6 years old - 1-2 bags 2-3 times a day; with gastroesophageal reflux, diaphragmatic hernia - immediately after eating and at night; in case of peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum - 1–2 hours after eating and immediately in case of pain; with gastritis and dyspepsia - before meals; with functional diseases of the colon - in the morning on an empty stomach and at night. The drug is repeated, if the pain occurs in between doses.
Children: up to 6 months - 4 g (1/4 bag or 1 tsp) after each of 6 feedings; after 6 months - 8 g (1/2 sachet or 2 teaspoons) after each of 4 feedings.
Adverse reactions
Constipation (mainly in elderly patients and bedridden patients).
Contraindications
Severe renal dysfunction; hypersensitivity to the drug.
Drug interactions
With simultaneous use of Phosphalugel with antibiotics of the tetracycline group, iron preparations, cardiac glycosides, their absorption is reduced, therefore, the above preparations should be taken no earlier than 2 hours after taking Phosphalugel.
Pregnancy and Lactation
It is possible to use the drug during pregnancy and lactation according to indications in therapeutic doses.
Special instructions
The drug should be used with caution in case of kidney diseases, liver cirrhosis, severe heart failure.
In patients with impaired renal function and elderly patients with the use of phosphalugel in the recommended doses, it is possible to increase the concentration of aluminum in the blood serum.
In case of constipation while taking Phosphalugel, it is recommended to increase the amount of water consumed daily.
The drug can be used prophylactically to reduce the absorption of radioactive elements.
The drug does not contain sugar, so it can be used in patients with diabetes.
Application Phosphalugel does not affect the results of X-ray examination.
Overdosage
Symptoms: inhibition of gastrointestinal motility (due to the large number of aluminum ions)
Treatment: the appointment of laxatives.
