Clinical Pharmacology

Rinicold Broncho - a combination drug, its constituent guaifenesin and ambroxol reduce the viscosity of bronchial secretions and facilitate expectoration. Chlorphenamine maleate has anti-allergic effect: eliminates tearing, itching in the eyes and nose. Phenylephrine hydrochloride has a vasoconstrictor effect, reduces swelling and hyperemia of the mucous membranes of the upper respiratory tract and paranasal sinuses.

Indications

Symptomatic treatment of "cold" diseases, influenza and acute respiratory viral infections, accompanied by cough with difficult to separate viscous sputum.

Composition

10 ml of syrup contains:

Active substances: ambroxol hydrochloride 15 mg; chlorphenamine maleate 2 mg; phenylephrine hydrochloride 5 mg; guaifenesin 100 mg;

Excipients: sucrose - 4000 mg; methyl parahydroxybenzoate - 18 mg; propyl parahydroxybenzoate - 2 mg; disodium edetate - 2 mg; sorbitol 70% solution - 1000 mg; glycerin (glycerol) - 500 mg; menthol - 1 mg, citric acid - 2 mg; sodium citrate - 5 mg; melon flavoring - 0.03 ml; Dusk “Sunset” yellow (E110) - 0.66 mg; purified water - q.s. up to 10 ml.

Dosage and Administration

For oral use Shake before use!

Recommended dose for adults and children over 12 years old - 20 ml (4 tsp) 3 times a day. Recommended dose for children 6–12 years old - 10 ml (2 tsp) 2-3 times a day. The drug should be evenly distributed throughout the day.

Adverse reactions

Since the cardiovascular system:possible rise in blood pressure, tachycardia.

From the side of the central nervous system: headache, drowsiness, dizziness, irritability, sleep disturbance. Children may have excitement, anxiety, irritability. Elderly patients are also possible confusion, irritability.

From the digestive system: nausea, vomiting, constipation, diarrhea, epigastric pain.

On the part of the organ of vision:mydriasis, accommodation paralysis, increased intraocular pressure.

Allergic reactions: skin rash, itching, angioedema.

Other: dry mucous membranes, difficulty urinating.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to any component of the preparation, simultaneous administration of other drugs containing substances included in the Rinicold Broncho, simultaneous reception of tricyclic antidepressants, MAO inhibitors, beta-blockers, seizures of any etiology, expressed coronary atherosclerosis, hypertension, diabetes, thyrotoxicosis , pheochromocytoma, angle-closure glaucoma, gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer, prostate adenoma, deficiency of the enzyme glucose-6-phosphate hydrogenase, pregnancy, lactation, child age (up to 6 years).

Drug interactions

The drug enhances the effect of sedatives, ethanol.

Combined use with antidepressants, phenothiazine derivatives (chlorpromazine, trifluoperazin, levomepromazine), anti-parkinsonian and antipsychotic drugs increases the risk of urinary retention, dry mouth, and constipation.

With simultaneous use with GCS (prednisone, dexamethasone, triamcinolone) increases the risk of developing glaucoma. Chlorphenamine when used simultaneously with MAO (nialamide) inhibitors, furazolidone can lead to hypertensive crisis, agitation, hyperpyrexia.

The use together with tricyclic antidepressants increases the sympathomimetic effect, with halothane - the risk of developing ventricular arrhythmia increases, with guanethidine - its hypotensive effect decreases. Guanethidine, in turn, enhances the alpha-adrenostimuliruyuschuyu activity of phenylephrine, which is part of the drug.

The simultaneous use of ambroxol and guaifenesin with antitussive agents leads to difficulty in sputum discharge.

Special instructions

It is not recommended to take the drug for more than 7 days without a doctor's prescription.

When using the drug may stain urine in pink.

Overdosage

Symptoms: increased severity of side effects.

Treatment: gastric lavage, taking activated charcoal, laxatives (liquid paraffin, saline laxatives); symptomatic therapy. When expressed violations should consult a doctor.
