From the digestive system:loss of appetite, dryness of the oral mucosa, metallic taste in the mouth, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea.

From the nervous system: headache, dizziness, fatigue, impaired coordination of movements (including locomotor ataxia), dysarthria, peripheral neuropathy, rarely - cramps, weakness.

Allergic reactions: urticaria, pruritus, skin rash, angioedema.

Other: transient leukopenia.

Contraindications

  • organic diseases of the central nervous system;
  • blood disorders;
  • I trimester of pregnancy;
  • lactation (breastfeeding);
  • hypersensitivity to the drug or other derivatives of 5-nitroimidazole.

Drug interactions

Enhances the effect of indirect anticoagulants (to reduce the risk of bleeding, reduce the dose by 50%) and the effect of ethanol (disulfiramopodobny effect).

Compatible with sulfonamides and antibiotics (aminoglycosides, erythromycin, rifampin, cephalosporins).

Not recommended with ethionamide.

Phenobarbital accelerates metabolism.

Pregnancy and Lactation

Tinidazole crosses the placenta, so it is contraindicated in the first trimester of pregnancy. In the II and III trimester of pregnancy, the drug is used only in case of absolute necessity, since There is a potential hazard of tinidazole on the fetus.

Tinidazole penetrates into the milk of a nursing woman, therefore during the intake of the drug should be interrupted by breastfeeding. Tinidazole remains in the milk of a woman for 72 hours after ingestion.

Special instructions

In the treatment of trichomoniasis should be the simultaneous treatment of both sexual partners.
If adverse reactions from the central nervous system occur, tinidazole should be discontinued.
In the process of treatment with tinidazole should refrain from alcohol because of the possible development of antabus-like reactions.
The drug causes dark staining of urine.
Control of laboratory parameters
If treatment continues for more than 6 days, regular monitoring of the peripheral blood pattern should be carried out.
Influence on ability to drive motor transport and control mechanisms
Patients taking the drug should refrain from engaging in potentially hazardous activities that require increased attention and speed of psychomotor reactions.

Overdosage

Cases of drug overdose have not been described.

Treatment: there is no specific antidote for tinidazole poisoning, it is necessary to carry out symptomatic and supportive treatment. Gastric lavage may be helpful; tinidazole can be easily removed by dialysis.
