Prostamol

Prostaplant has an anti-androgenic, anti-inflammatory and anti-edema effect, which is selectively directed to the prostate gland.

Antiandrogenic activity of the drug due to inhibition of the enzyme 5α-reductase. Under the influence of this enzyme, testosterone entering the prostate gland is converted into the active form - dihydrotestosterone. It prevents the formation of dihydrotestosterone-receptor-complex, its penetration into the cell nucleus and the subsequent induction of protein synthesis. As a result, the process of proliferative changes in the tissues of the prostate gland is inhibited. Prostaplant does not affect testosterone, FSH and LH plasma levels in men.

Anti-inflammatory and anti-edema effects associated with inhibition of COX and 5-lipoxygenase.

Reduces capillary permeability and vascular stasis, relieves swelling and inflammation of the prostate, thus eliminating compression on the bladder neck and urethra, improves urodynamics in the urinary tract.

These properties of the drug help to reduce the specific symptoms of prostatic hyperplasia, such as dysuria, pollakiuria, nocturia, decreased volume and strength of urination, incomplete emptying of the bladder, painful sensations and a feeling of pressure in the perineum at stages I – II.

Prostaplant does not reduce potency, does not affect the level of prostate specific antigen in the blood plasma.
