Clinical Pharmacology

Pimafucort is a combination drug that has an antibacterial, antifungal, local anti-inflammatory effect.
Neomycin is a broad-spectrum antibiotic from the group of aminoglycosides, active against a number of gram-positive (Staphylococcus spp., Enterococcus spp.) And gram-negative (Klebsiella spp., Proteus spp., Escherichia coli, etc.) bacteria.
Natamycin is an antifungal agent of the polyene series, it has a fungicidal effect on yeast and yeast-like fungi, especially Candida spp. Natalycin dermatomycetes are less sensitive.
Hydrocortisone has anti-inflammatory and vasoconstrictor action.
Eliminates inflammation and itching that accompany various types of dermatosis.

Indications

Dermatoses, susceptible to glucocorticosteroid therapy, complicated by a secondary bacterial and / or fungal infection (especially caused by Candida fungi).

Composition

1 g:
- Natamycin 10 mg
- neomycin (in the form of neomycin sulfate) 3500 U
- hydrocortisone micronized 10 mg

Dosage and Administration

Adults and children drug Pimafucort applied to the affected skin 2-4 times a day. The duration of treatment is determined individually, taking into account the nature of the disease, the course of treatment usually does not exceed 14 days.
In children, the drug should be applied to the limited extent of the skin, do not use occlusive dressings. In the absence of improvement in children and adults after 14 days, you should consult a doctor.
In the form of a cream, the drug is recommended for the treatment of acute and subacute dermatoses, incl. accompanied by soiling. The ointment is intended for the treatment of sub-acute and chronic dermatoses, especially in the presence of severe dry skin, lichenification, seborrhea, or in cases where occlusive properties of the ointment are necessary.

Adverse reactions

Side effects from the external use of Pimafucort, as with the use of other glucocorticosteroids, are rarely developed and are reversible. Rarely, a hypersensitivity reaction (itching, burning, redness, or dry skin) may develop.
Extremely rare - atrophy and thinning of the skin, telangiectasia, striae, purpura, rosacea-like and perioral dermatitis, delayed wound healing, depigmentation, hypertrichosis, withdrawal syndrome after stopping treatment.
When using external glucocorticosteroids for a long time, on large areas of the skin, or when using occlusive dressings, especially in children, side effects that are characteristic of systemic glucocorticosteroids, such as suppression of the function of the adrenal cortex, may develop.

Contraindications

Drug interactions

Pregnancy and Lactation

In appointing the drug Pimafucort during pregnancy, it is necessary to take into account the theoretical risk of the ototoxic effect of neomycin, and therefore it is impossible to use the drug for a long time and apply it under occlusive dressings.

Special instructions

When applying Pimafucort on the area of the eyelids and periorbital area there is a risk of increased intraocular pressure, development of cataracts.
When applying the drug on large surfaces in children or under dressings, it is necessary to keep in mind the possibility of suppressing the function of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal system.
In the case of prolonged treatment, in the presence of wounds and ulcers, there is a theoretical risk of the ototoxic and nephrotoxic effects of neomycin.
If superinfection or excessive growth of fungi occurs, the use of the drug should be discontinued and appropriate measures taken.
