Dosage and Administration
Topically. The required amount of ointment (2-4 g, which corresponds to the volume of large cherries) is rubbed into painful areas of the skin. If necessary, the procedure is repeated after a few hours (up to 3 times a day). Duration of the course (without consulting a doctor) - up to 10 days.
Adverse reactions
In rare cases, hypersensitivity to the drug, irritation at the injection site, skin allergic reactions, as well as angioedema, develop.
Contraindications
hypersensitivity to any component of the drug;
open wounds;
skin irritation;
children's age up to 6 years.
With care: pregnancy, breastfeeding, aspirin bronchial asthma, children aged 6 to 12 years.
Drug interactions
The drug causes skin hyperemia and reflexively increases blood circulation in the subcutaneous tissue, thus, the combined use of local action with other drugs can lead to increased absorption. The use of large quantities can increase the toxicity of methotrexate and reduce the therapeutic effect of hypoglycemic agents. The drug should not be used with oral anticoagulants.
Special instructions
For external use only. Do not use with warming compresses. If skin irritation occurs, discontinue use. Avoid contact with eyes, mucous membranes, areas of skin irritation. Do not use the drug for more than 10 days without consulting a doctor.
Overdosage
An overdose of menthol and methyl salicylate was observed in some cases, mainly in children, with the occasional ingestion of drugs containing these substances.
Symptoms: agitation, increased depth of breathing, hyperpyrexia, nausea, abdominal pain, vomiting, and symptoms of CNS depression such as dizziness, unsteady gait, flushing, drowsiness, respiratory depression and coma.
Treatment: symptomatic and supportive; correction of electrolyte and water balance, the appointment of adsorbents and salt laxatives, forced diuresis, external cooling of the body; in severe cases - blood transfusion, hemodialysis.
An overdose of Bom-Benge ointment when applied topically occurs rarely and only when used improperly (applied to the mucous membranes, extensive areas of damaged or infected skin).
