Clinical Pharmacology
Gastal reduces the high level of acidity of gastric juice to normal levels and eliminates digestive disorders. The drug also inhibits the action of pepsin, bile enzymes (lecithin) and bile acids, promotes the rapid healing of gastric ulcers and protects the mucosa from aggressive factors (stimulates the secretion of mucus and alkaline sodium bicarbonate, epidermal growth factor, increases the concentration of phospholipids, etc.). The effect of the drug occurs immediately after administration and lasts another 2 hours. The drug is not absorbed inside, but is excreted in the feces.
Indications
According to indications for Gastal, it is taken for: gastritis with high acidity, ulcers of the stomach and small intestine, heartburn, erosions of the gastric mucosa, reflux esophagitis, diaphragmatic hernia, acute pancreatitis, with dyspepsia with a long delay of food in the stomach. Gastal is also indicated for the prevention of peptic ulcer disease.
Composition
The pills are white, round, with a flat and smooth surface and beveled edges.
1 tablet contains:
aluminum hydroxide-magnesium carbonate gel -450 mg
Excipients: mannitol, sorbitol, lactose, corn starch, sodium cyclamate, sodium saccharinate, talc, magnesium stearate, peppermint flavoring (peppermint).

Dosage and Administration
The drug is taken orally. The tablet should be gradually dissolve (do not swallow it entirely).
Adults appoint 1-2 tab. 4-6 times a day, but not more than 8 tab. within 24 hours. The drug is recommended to be taken 1 hour after a meal and before bedtime.
The maximum duration of admission - 2 weeks.
Withheartburn the drug is prescribed in recommended doses, regardless of the meal.
For the purpose of prophylaxis, Gastal® is used before the intended irritant effect on the gastrointestinal mucosa.
For children aged 6 to 12 years prescribed half the dose for adults.
Adverse reactions
On the part of the digestive system: rarely (at least 0.01%, but less than 0.1%) - nausea, constipation, diarrhea, change in taste.
Other: in exceptional cases - allergic reactions.
Contraindications
- renal failure severe;

WITHcautionthe drug should be used in chronic renal failure, during pregnancy and during breastfeeding, in adults and children over 12 years old with a body weight less than 50 kg, in children aged 6 to 12 years, in elderly patients.
Drug interactions
The interval between taking Gastal and other medicines should be 1-2 hours.
Gastal® enhances the action of levodopa and nalidixic acid.

Pregnancy and Lactation

Special instructions
In patients with low body weight and in children over the age of 6 years, Gastal® should be used in smaller doses and less long.
In patients with impaired renal function, it is not recommended to use Gastal® in doses exceeding the recommended and for a longer time.
Continuous reception for more than 2 weeks is possible only with the appointment of a doctor.
Overdosage
Symptoms of acute overdose are not described.
Symptoms: long-term intake in high doses of drugs containing aluminum and magnesium may develop hypophosphatemia, hypocalcemia, hypercalciuria, osteomalacia, osteoporosis, hypermagnemia, hyperaluminemia, encephalopathy, nephrocalcinosis and impaired kidney function. Possible increased side effects from the digestive system (constipation, diarrhea). In patients with renal insufficiency, thirst, a decrease in blood pressure, and hyporeflexia are possible.
